Posted at 14: 17h in new brewery, News by Kristy Jacobs 0 Comments 6 Likes OLD STONE BAKERY BECOMES NEW BREWERY The Musketeers will build a new brewery in Sint-Gillis-Waas. It will become a tourist attraction for the Waasland. People can visit the brewery and taste their Belgian specialty beers. This is possible in a brand new brasserie where, besides beers, delicious dishes are also on the menu.
CRAFT REPLACED CRAFT We had been looking for years for a suitable location to brew our specialty beers. Today we brew in the Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi. Two years ago our eye fell on the old stone bakery in the Reepstraat in Sint-Gillis-Waas. The craft site had been abandoned for years. We saw the opportunity here to give the building a traditional craft destination again. The original stone bakery ‘De Herleving’ is therefore integrated as far as possible in the design of the brewery.
TOURISTIC PLACE The new brewery is located on the grounds of the Wase Golf and near the junctions of walking and cycling routes in the Waasland. With our catering business, we aim at tourists with a heart for Belgian specialty beers. Of course, tasting our specialty beers will play an important role in the brasserie. But we also want to spoil the culinary visitors with tasty regional dishes.
BEER TALKING The brick kiln will be renovated and converted into a contemporary and ecological beer brewery. Adjacent is a new building with space for the offices of The Musketeers, the brewery hall and a catering business. The architects often chose glass walls. We want to make people talk and have beer with our brewery. Visitors of the brasserie should therefore be able to feel the ins and outs of the brewery during their visit. That is why a large glass wall provides a direct view of the brewery hall.
BUILDING PLANS We expect the first stone to be laid in early 2017. Everything should be ready by 2018. The Antwerp architectural office Verdickt & amp; Verdickt is responsible for the realization of the new brewery. This agency specializes in redeveloping historical locations. For example, they worked out the Park Shed in the Antwerp Spoor Noord Park.
