It’s no secret that John Holmberg, host of Holmberg’s Morning Sickness on 98 KUPD, loves dogs (he has eight of his own) and craft beer. So we though we’d help him combine those two passions. The result: Holmberg Bound, a red IPA brewed to benefit the Arizona Humane Society.
In early November, Holmberg sat with our brewers to design his beer from scratch. He had a few rules: It had to be big, it had to be red, and it had to be hoppy. Our brewers gathered the ingredients, and a week later Holmberg visited our 8th Street brewery to take part in the brewing process himself (as you’ll see in this video from the brew day).
Holmberg Bound will be released for the first time ever at our 8th Street pub 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 at a party hosted by Holmberg himself. The Arizona Humane Society will be onsite with a menagerie of lovable, adoptable animals, and reps from 98KUPD will be there with plenty of radio goodies.
Special-edition growlers with the beer, a logo’d bandanna and spent grain dog treats will be available for the first 250 attendees for $25, which includes a $10 donation to the Arizona Humane Society. We’ll also be selling draft pours, with $1 from every pint sold going to the pups.
Can’t make it to the party at 8th Street? No worries; the beer will be also be released at the following locations:
– Four Peaks Wilson Tasting Room in Tempe (5-7 p.m. Friday, December 8, with KUPD host Dick Toledo)
– Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale (5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, with KUPD host Creepy E.)
– 3nd Annual Holmberg’s Happy Ending at Celebrity Theatre (6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16)
