Ode to my business on it’s 5th birthday March 24, 2017 My Business turns 5 years old today.
Its shocking to think about, it still feels so new, and we still make so many mistakes! How can it have been 5 years already!? Although it seems like a blink of an eye, it has also been a long time coming.
Twenty years ago, I was a third-year Chemistry major, hitting my stride. My kinetic energy, the sheer potential of it all was the bane of my existence, pints of Rickards red were my drink of choice.
Fifteen years ago I was studying with the American Brewers Guild, working at the local homebrew shop. I had yet to drink my first Sierra Nevada pale ale but I was already hooked on craft beer. It was the science behind beer making and the encouragement within the industry to be an individual that got me. Think outside of the box? I LIVED for that shit.
Now 10 years in, I was head brewer at a downtown Montreal brewpub. Pints of St. Ambroise in hand, and a future business plan in mind, all I needed to do was make it a reality.
Five years ago today? Well you all know that story. It’s the one about the goat parade and the tapping of the first keg of Zunga golden blond.
The last five years have been a blur of realizing dreams and discovering things I had no intention of knowing about myself. The hard parts have been so damn hard, but the highlights have more than made up for them. It’s true that things get better with age, a little easier and a lot more fun.
Happy birthday Townsite Brewing, I love you to the moon and back.
