Tour of Jenny LakeSometimes I reallyreally love my job. Last week I had one of those days. I was lucky enough to go out with the Grand Teton National Park Foundation and have a tour of all the progress that has been made on the Jenny Lake restoration project. But let me back up here…Two years ago Snake River Brewing was approached by the Park Foundation to partner with them in helping raise money for the much needed repairs in and around Jenny Lake. They needed a ton of trail maintenance and reconstruction, new boat landings, and repairs to the rock structures made by the CCC in the 1930s. The project itself was going to cost 17 million dollars–a tall order for the park.I feel very fortunate to be a part of an extremely philanthropic organization that never fails to step up when the community has a need. Snake River Brewing decided to come in and rebrand our Vienna style “Snake River Lager” to the “Jenny Lake Lager” and have a portion of all the canned sales goes directly to the Park Foundation for this project.
Fast forward two years and the project is well underway and and looking incredible! The foundation wanted us folks over at SRB to check out how everything was coming along and we were not disappointed! We we able to take the ferry across the lake over to the trail head and we pulled up to the very impressive brand new boat dock! We met and chatted with some of the trail crew working on a huge rock structure at the beautiful Inspiration Point. I even ran into an old trail crew buddy from my glory days when I worked trails in Montana! We also were able to meet some other nice folks who joined us on the tour. All and all, the day was great. We beat most of the crowds and were able to talk to a park ranger during our tour who was extremely knowledgable and nice–he also told me that the Jenny Lake Lager is his favorite beer of all time :).We have been so thankful and excited to be a part of this huge project. Big thanks to Grand Teton National Park Foundation and the National Park Service for all the incredible work they do to keep our national parks looking great!Recent Posts
