It was in 1990 that Jean-Paul Van der Haegen designed the recipe for the Divine. Jean-Paul is a brewing engineer trained in Ghent. He is the father of Bertrand, one of the two leaders of the Brewery. It was at the request of a beer merchant in Liège, who proposed the name and wanted a strong beer, that it was created. As alcohol inhibits the effects of yeast, we had to find one that matched the specifications. The Divine recipe was made from the Double Enghien blonde. We increased the density with more raw materials and quality hops. The fermentation time has been extended, which makes it a beer for aging. La Divine is an amber beer, of high fermentation, triple type. Its sweet and velvety aroma gives off a hoppy and woody flavor. It releases a very bitter, even smoky, alcoholic taste at the back of the mouth. Mmmmh. You’ll see, it’s divine.
