Here at Tröegs, efficiency and sustainability have always been at the top of our collective mind. Whether it’s conserving water, using compressed air to aid the production process, or our innovative CO2 reclamation system, we’re all about reducing our carbon footprint.
For example, did you know that our fermentation process creates about one million pounds of CO2 annually? Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? But when we capture, store, and reuse CO2, we’re able to function without interruption if we experience a shortage or other issue that might pop up unexpectedly. While this project is still in development, ultimately it is expected to produce a majority of our current CO2 needs.
And did you know that compressed air plays a large role in our brewing process? One of its main uses is to control valves that constantly open and close throughout the production and packaging processes. Without compressed air, packaging fresh beer would be a difficult task!
“We all have families, we all have children, and we want to leave this world a better place than when we came into it,” says Jason Knox, our Maintenance Manager. “At Tröegs, we pay attention to our carbon footprint and drive sustainability efforts so we can be a good neighbor to our community.”
