Montaigu is a Belgian brewery in Zichem.

History

Gunther Bensch grew up in Scherpenheuvel and has been playing since childhood with the idea ever own brew beer. “Beer is my culture and my passion,” he says. He earned his spurs in the beer landscape with the creation of Vicardin, a triple-based Gueuze Gueuze Girardin (White label) that has achieved some prizes like the Zythos Consumer trophy. In late 2008, he translated his passion into a new, own beer, Bienvenue de Montaigu. There then followed a series of other beers.
There are currently Nondedju and Notre Passion that are already more than appreciated. Recently (Nov. 2013) there were mediales gold won at the Brussels Beer Challenge with BIIR White IPA and Boldriaan. “Tasty traditional beers with an original recipe, the brewing process and respect for natural resources,” Gunther describes.
