Ever wonder why February is shorter than all the other months? It’s because Arizona Beer Week is so awesome that the higher-ups had to take some days out of February to avoid all the other months getting jealous. True story.
From February 8-18 (which is longer than a week, but we won’t tell if you won’t), bars, restaurants and breweries across the state will be hosting amazing events, and taps will be flowing with deliciousness at unheard-of rates. It’ll be Christmas for beer nerds.
Want to see everything we have planned for Beer Week? First, call and ask your boss for the week off. Then read on.
Girl Scout Cookie and Beer Pairings – Thursday, Feb. 8
Peanut butter and jelly. Peaches and cream. Bacon and eggs. There are some food pairings that just work. And the greatest of these couplings, of course, is Girl Scout cookies and beer.
Join us for the return of our wildly popular cookie and beer pairing events during Arizona Beer Week, featuring five delicious brews paired with our favorite Girl Scout cookies (plus a few cookies of our own creation). With reps from the Four Peaks brewing and kitchen teams walking you through the flavor connections displayed in each of the pairings, you’ll leave with a full belly and a better understanding of how to pair beer with food—scout’s honor.
This event has three separate seatings. Click the links below to RSVP:
6 p.m. at the Wilson Tasting Room
8 p.m. at the Wilson Tasting Room
6 p.m. at the Scottsdale Grill & Tap
The Arizona Strong Beer Festival – Saturday, Feb. 10
The big one. For 18 years, this annual celebration of strong and strongly flavored beer has been Beer Week’s preeminent event. Festival-goers will have a chance to sample from more than 150 in- and out-of-state breweries, and this year we’re bringing more than a dozen of our favorite beers, including:
– Sirius Black (our licorice root- and coffee-infused imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels)
– Hopsquatch 2016 (vintage barleywine!)
– Double Knot (an imperial IPA)
– New Fashioned CocktALE (a bock infused with orange peel and botanicals, then aged in bourbon barrels to mimic an Old Fashioned cocktail)
– Port Barrel-aged Blind Date (a GABF gold medal-winning dark ale brewed with dates aged in port wine barrels)
– Margarita Gose (our Kumquat Gose aged in anejo tequila barrels)
– Barrel-aged Heavy Lifter (a Scotch ale brewed with barrel-aged barley)
…and many more. Our tapping game, like the festival itself, is strong.

The Beer Can Derby – 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17
The Four Peaks Beer Can Derby makes its triumphant return during Arizona Beer Week 2018, bringing back all the nonstop drama and heart-pounding action that you can possibly get from wood blocks on wheels.
The entry fee is $10 (link to buy in the event title) and includes a starter kit to be picked up at the Four Peaks studio at 8th Street in Tempe. Each starter kit includes everything you’ll need to create your racer: wheels, framing, axles and, of course, empty Four Peaks cans. Use as little or as much of the kit as you like, but you must incorporate at least (1) Four Peaks beer can into the design.
All race cars are gravity racers and can have no propulsion of any kind. (This includes but is not limited to: fans, compressed gas, electric motors, explosives and flux capacitors.) Decor and design elements that make your car unique and badass, however, are highly encouraged. Just make sure that your car doesn’t exceed these parameters:
Max. Width: 3.75″
Max. Height: 8″
Max. Length: 10″
Max. Weight: 12 oz.
Races will be held between two cars at a time on random and alternating track lanes. Each race will be best of three, with the winner advancing and the loser moving to the consolation bracket. In the rare event of a tie, the race will be completed until a winner is established. The prizes for the top three finishers are as follows:
First Place: $100 Four Peaks gift card, fame
Second Place: $50 Four Peaks gift card, slightly less fame
Third Pace: $25 Four Peaks gift card, still some fame but not as much as those first two
We’re also introducing a new aspect for this year’s event: An all-Arizona brewery bracket. Cheer on your favorite local breweries as they battle for pinewood derby dominance!
