Barn Burner Series – Small Batch Beers in April
Every first Thursday of the month, we’re unleashing some small batch specialty brews on ya. Stop into one of our taprooms – Boulder, Longmont, or Brevard and try something rare. Sip ’em at the bar, or grab a Crowler to go. This month’s release events are April 5 starting at 4pm. Details on the beers:
Bwahahaha Michigan Cashmere, 7.5% ABV We continually fiddle around with this Single Hop IPA using a rotating hop selection because it’s one of our favorites. This month’s Bwahahaha got hopped up on Michigan Cashmere hops from Hop Head Farms out of Hickory Corners, Michigan. Cashmere is kinda weird (but cool) in that it undergoes a lot of flavor development while it’s being dried, and the end result boasts flavors of gooseberry, melon and coconut.
Interstate SMaSH Simcoe, 6.9% ABV A double dry-hopped, heavily Simcoe-infused SMaSH (stands for “single malt and single hop”) named after our favorite local CO rock band, Interstate Stash Express. April’s malt is the usual suspect – Root Shoot Pale, in a jammy duet with a LArGE amount of Simcoe, which resonates with pine, citrus and mango notes. We use a first wort hop addition, then a second whirlpool addition PLUS two dry-hoppin’s during fermentation. Last month’s batch sold out, so get it while ya can.
Check Yo’Self Golden Double IPA, 8.1% ABV HBC 682 sounds like a vacuum model, or a robotic Star Wars character, but it’s actually an herbal, spicy experimental hop varietal used alongside Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo and Pacifica in this Golden Double IPA. Paired with a malt bill of Caramalt, wheat, dextrin and rye (for malt depth without darkening the color), the result is a big, bright juicy DIPA that’s approachable at 8.1%. This beer was originally a collaboration with brewers from Perrin Brewing, Periodic Brewing, and Headlands Brewing Co; and we liked it so much we brought it back around.
