August 10, 2018 Beau’s Brewing Co. is releasing its Beau’s Fall Mix, a variety pack coming to Ontario and Québec retailers for an in-store date of August 16, 2018. The seasonal mixer of 4×600 ml bottles contains three new beers from Beau’s, along with its popular flagship, the award-winning Lug-Tread Lagered Ale. Included are Maple Rush maple robust porter, Dortmunder lager, and CDN Pale Ale, which is made with all-Canadian ingredients. Each of the four selections falls in at a sessionable 5-6% ABV, and of course, all are certified organic.
Maple Rush is a maple wood-aged porter brewed with Ontario maple syrup. At 5.6% this “robust” version is slightly stronger than is typical of the classic British beer style, and pours opaque black with a dense tan foam. The aroma is a heady mixture of black malt and espresso notes that are softened by its aging on sweet Canadian maple wood. The flavour is robust dark malt and appetizing maple; the finish is silky, luscious and rich.
Dortmunder is a solid, well-rounded 5.5% German-style lager. The story of this beer style has its roots in a coal-mining, steel-making region known as the Ruhr Valley, where the mineral-rich water elevates the mouthfeel and flavour of its locally made beer. The end result is a surprisingly substantial lager, which pours deep gold with a white foam. The aroma is floral, herbal and malty; a sip delivers balanced cereal grain and firm hop bitterness. The finish is smooth and clean.
CDN Pale Ale is brewed with all-Canadian, all-organic malts, hops and yeast. Its ingredients read a bit like the lyrics to a Stompin’ Tom Connors song, with hops from Ontario and British Columbia, Ontario barley and wheat malts, Alberta-grown oats, and Ontario-propagated ale yeast. The hazy orange 5.5% pale ale offers hoppy aromas of melon and citrus. Big fruit flavours lead into a finish that is bright and hoppy.
The Beau’s Fall Mix will be sold in 4×600 ml cases at LCBO stores across Ontario. In Québec, the three new beers will be available by the single bottle at craft-friendly dépanneurs and grocery stores throughout the province. The Fall Mix will also be available as a limited-scale release in the provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Alberta, where Beau’s beer is sold.
