September 7, 2018 Like leaves and the weather, Beau’s Tom Green Beer is changing for the fall – incoming is Tom Green Cherry Milk Stout, a rendition of the classic Tom Green Beer milk stout brewed with piles of organic cherries and organic cherry juice. The classic flavour combination of cherry and chocolate, with a hint of café mocha, is a well-suited enhancement to this creamy, luscious milk stout, which was first introduced by Beau’s in 2017. The cherries were added directly into the brew; the juice comes in post-fermentation to allow the brewers to fine-tune its subtle sweetness.
Tom Green Cherry Milk Stout pours black-brown with garnet highlights and is 5.6 % ABV. The aroma offers dark malt notes reminiscent of mochaccino, coupled with sweet, fruity cherry. The flavour imparts dark chocolate and dark roast coffee, offset by dessert-like cherry intonations. The finish echoes with lingering dark malt and cherries. Beau’s Brewmaster Matthew O’Hara recommends slightly warmer service for this stout at 6-8 C, in a traditional pub-style nonic glass.
The fruity new twist for the fall follows up Tom Green Beer Summer Stout, a blonde stout made with coffee and cacao. A friend of the brewery, Canadian actor and comedian Tom Green is the inspiration for Beau’s Tom Green collection of beers, which fall under the umbrella of the Beau’s + Friends Series. The award-winning original recipe, The Tom Green Beer! Milk Stout, is slated to return to the Beau’s line-up in early 2019.
Beau’s Tom Green Cherry Milk Stout will be sold this fall in 600 ml bottles in Ontario and Quebec, at craft-friendly retailers throughout those provinces. It will also be available as a limited-scale release in the provinces of B.C., Alberta, and Manitoba, where Beau’s beer is sold.
