Great Divide Giving: 2017

January 2, 2018January 2, 2018 Great Divide Gives Back Great Divide has been fortunate to call the great city of Denver home since our humble beginnings in 1994. We’ve been able to grow and evolve alongside the city throughout the years. Without the continued support of our community, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do today. Each year, we strive to find ways to support the neighborhood that has supported us from the very beginning. Through initiatives like our Tap Room Giving Program and participation in community events and sponsorships, we have the opportunity to give back to our big beautiful city.

Tap Room Giving Program In 2011 we launched our Tap Room Giving Program as one way to say thank you to the Denver community. With the help of our thirsty patrons, $545,000 has been raised since the program’s inception. The charitable scope of focus of these organizations falls into 7 categories: affordable housing & homelessness, community & environmental stewardship, cycling & outdoor adventure programs, education and at-risk youth, hunger & food access/sustainability, vulnerable populations, and the arts.

In 2017 the Tap Room Giving Program supported 23 different 501c3 nonprofit organizations and a total of $75,000 in proceeds were raised through sample flight sales. Many of the organizations were participating for their 4th, 5th and even 6th times. These long-term mutually beneficial relationships allow Great Divide to be a part of the incredible growth of the organizations it supports. It also allows us the opportunity us to witness their impact on the communities and populations they advocate for.

Sponsorships & Events: Great Divide also works to support the Denver community through participation in different sponsorships and events. In 2017 we supported over 100 different organizations through these efforts.

Levitt Pavilion 2017 was our second year as the official beer sponsor for Levitt Pavilion Denver. Levitt is a local non-profit focusing on elevating the local music scene and increasing accessibility to free live music. With the construction of the new Levitt Pavilion in Ruby Hill Park this year, they’ve made huge strides. This past summer Levitt hosted 50 free concerts at the new pavilion where Great Divide brews were available for thirsty concert-goers. We are excited to continue and grow this partnership in 2018 as the organization and music venue continue to grow and elevate the local music scene here in Denver.

Mile High United Way Turkey Trot

This year we also had the opportunity to be the official beer sponsor for the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot. 2017 was the fourth year Great Divide has had the good fortune of sponsoring the 6K Thanksgiving Day run/walk in Wash Park. Each Thanksgiving, thousands of participants run in the Turkey Trot to raise money towards work that will help pull families and individuals in our community out of poverty. Every 21+ runner receives free Great Divide brews in the beer garden after the race. We’re excited to continue this Thanksgiving Day tradition with the Denver community.

Hops For Homes: The House that Beer Built In 2017 we teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver on the first ever House that Beer Built partnership. Together with the support of 20+ other breweries, Habitat was able to raise $50,000 to help a local family in Denver find strength and stability through homeownership. All participating breweries also spent the summer working alongside Habitat for Humanity to help build the home for a deserving Denver family. Samantha Temple, the Development Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver says of the partnership, “With the support of Great Divide and 20 other

local breweries… Lisa and Ahmad no longer have to worry about rising rents, and unsafe living conditions for their young family. They can now feel safe and stable in their new home! This could not have been achieved without the dedicated Great Divide team, who offered invaluable support to Habitat while running the first ever beer fest – Hops for Homes, through their taproom giving program, and with their sweet equity out on the build site! Thank you Great Divide for helping Lisa and Ahmad build a better future for their children.”

As we look towards 2018, we’re excited to grow our relationships with these organizations and continue to support our amazing Denver community. Keep reading to see quotes from some of our non-profit partners.

— A Word From Our Partners “We believe that true partnerships are multi-faceted, and through the Tap Room Giving Program and product donations, Great Divide is helping Metro Caring impact our Denver neighbors. Your support allows Metro Caring to cover the gap on specific items that are otherwise difficult for us to purchase such as meat, dairy, and other high-demand foods in our Fresh Foods Market for 3 days, which allows over 100 individuals or families each day to take home more well-balanced meals. Thank you for helping Metro Caring build equity in our community through your generosity.” Judy Ackerman, Metro Caring

“Support from Great Divide Brewing Company this year has been nothing short of extraordinary. Great Divide’s support through our fundraising events, volunteer projects, and as a Tap Room beneficiary this past April helped Cottonwood Institute serve over 480 participants through 33 programs in the Denver/Boulder area. The underserved middle and high school students we work with were able to explore the outdoors for the first time, sleep under the stars, and tackle local environmental issues impacting their communities. In 2017, our students designed and implemented Action Projects that helped saved the bees, they hosted an alternative protein tasting (i.e. bugs), threw an alternative energy dance party, and more. We couldn’t have provided these life-changing experiences without the support of local businesses like Great Divide. “Great Divide has been a tremendous supporter of Project Angel Heart and a sponsor of our A Taste for Life event since 2011.  By donating over $10,000 worth of product over the years, they have enabled us to provide over 1,000 medically tailored meals to Coloradans facing life-threatening illnesses. Even in the midst of the Great American Beer Festival, their team found time to help us with a kick-off event and our most successful A Taste for Life yet! They’re always willing to lend a helping hand (and a few cases of their best brew) when we need it.”  – Rachel NewnamCorporate Partnerships Manager, Project Angel Heart
