Last year, we were proud to help Fresh Fest — the nation’s first black-owned beer festival and USA Today’s #2 Best Beer Festival in the Nation — go digital for the first time.
Now, Barrel & Flow Fest 2021 has a new name and is poised to be bigger than ever as it showcases some of the best brewers in the country and strives to make the industry more inclusive. We once again teamed up with festival founder Day Bracey and other participating breweries to offer a taste of it all!
This special bundle has 15 collab beers from 33 incredible breweries (and one hip-hop duo!), many black-owned and operated.
Here’s the lineup:
Tröegs Independent Brewing (Hershey, PA) x Harris Family (Harrisburg, PA) x Mack Brewing (Philadelphia, PA) — Dry-Hopped Imperial Pilsner – 10.4% ABV
This big beer revamps what you thought you knew about the Pilsner style by revving up its biscuity malt flavors with citrusy hops and a massive ABV. The can art comes from local artist Tristan Bond, who fittingly lives by the saying, “Be Vibrant.”
Other Half Brewing (Brooklyn, NY) x Four City Brewing (Orange, NJ) — Orange Greenies – Imperial Stout – 13.8% ABV
The chocolate-dipped fruit ‘n nut decadence is tangible in this stacked sipper, bursting with pistachios, oranges, coconut, and cacao nibs. Boozy warmth rises cozily throughout.
Trillium Brewing (Canton, MA) x Brockton Beer (Brockton, MA) — Bake & Break – Double IPA – 8.5% ABV
The brewers used actual baked loaves in the base, emulating communities coming together and “breaking bread.” Paired with the berry sorbet and citrus-gummy flavors of Mosaic and El Dorado Hops, the result is honey-drizzled crust and candied fruit in every sip!
Brew Gentlemen (Braddock, PA) x Run the Jewels (yes, the hip hop duo!) — Blockbuster Night, Pt. 1 – IPA – 7% ABV
Just as RTJ’s lyrics are known for their intensity, this IPA delivers the goods with hop terpenes — highly concentrated flavor and aroma compounds! Every potent sip delivers crushing waves of pineapple, orange, and fresh tangerine.
Brooklyn Brewery (Brooklyn, NY) x Cajun Fire Brewing (New Orleans, LA) — Seed, Stalk and Root – Dark Lager – 6.5% ABV
This rich, sippable Lager features fonio, an ancient West African grain used to create nutty flavors in food and drink for millennia. Molasses adds smooth sweetness and an expression of Black history in the Americas.
Allagash Brewing (Portland, ME) x Sankofa Beer (Washington, D.C.) — Woven in Time – Dark Ale – 5.7% ABV
Millet grain and smoked maple syrup whisk the taste buds away on a breakfast flight of earthy sweetness. Sip deeply for hints of chocolate chip pancakes and dried fruit-topped cereal.
Burgh’ers Brewing (Pittsburgh, PA) x Crafted Culture Brewing (Gahanna, OH) — Knock if Ya Bock – Doppelbock – 7.5% ABV
A dash of hazelnut amps up the toasted malt character here, bringing the smooth Doppelbock style to new levels of opulence. Let it linger for full-bodied flavors of dark fruit and chocolate.
Crowns & Hops (Inglewood, CA) x Black Calder Brewing (Grand Rapids, MI) — The Blue Peach – Blueberry Peach Gose – 6.6% ABV
Big additions of peach puree, blueberry puree, graham cracker, vanilla, black lava sea salt, cinnamon, and coriander transform this stunning sipper into a drinkable dessert! It’s a delicious tribute to politician and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams.
Montclair Brewery (Montclair, NJ) x Mac Brewing (Chicago, IL) — Fumé – Rauchbier – 5% ABV
Peat-smoked malt and roasted barley form a deeply complex base while a dose of brown sugar adds subtle sweetness. English East Kent Goldings Hops weave notes of mellow florals and whispers of earthy spice into this refined sipper.
J Wakefield Brewing (Miami, FL) x Warcloud Brewing (Rowland Heights, CA) — The Calm Before The Storm – Peach Cobbler Sour Ale – 6.5% ABV
It’s a cross-country collab! Like biting into a freshly-baked, flaky pastry filled with vanilla, peaches, and coconut, this Sour Ale delights the senses with a dance of sweet and tart.
Trace Brewing (Pittsburgh, PA) x Two Locals (Philadelphia, PA) — Local Traces – India Pale Lager – 5.2% ABV
Two beer styles collide in this enticing combo of light-bodied refreshment and fruit-forward hop character. The brewers dry-hopped a Pale Lager with a stunning lineup of Hallertau Mittelfruh, Grungeist, Citra, and Azacca for nuances of passionfruit, OJ, and lemon zest.
Black Horizon (Willowbrook, IL) x Englewood Brews (Chicago, IL) x Skeleton Key Brewery (Woodridge, IL) x Whiskey Hill Brewing Company (Westmont, IL) — Belgian Abbey – Belgian Table Beer – 5% ABV
Powered by a quadfecta of Illinois breweries, this Belgian-style brew defines ‘easygoing.’ Prepare for a floral-citrus nose and nips of peach on the palate, all leading to a crisp, softly tangy finish.
East End Brewing (Pittsburgh, PA) x Black Frog (Holland, OH) — Caribbean Amphibian – Double Milk Stout – 6% ABV
Inspired by the sweet flavors of the Caribbean, the brewers began with bottom fermentation for rich, clean malt character, then added lactose for smoothness. It’s like melty milk chocolate mingled with hints of island-y coconut and coffee.
18th Street Brewery (Gary, IN) x Revolution (Chicago, IL) — Shop Talk – West Coast IPA – 7% ABV
Just as the original West Coast IPAs spurred the modern craft beer movement, this classic IPA style celebrates conversations leading to new beginnings. Centennial, Amarillo, Chinook, and extra-potent Simcoe Cryo Hops bring refreshing flavors of grapefruit, florals, and pine resin.
Beale St. Brewing (Memphis, TN) x 2nd Shift Brewing (St. Louis, MO) x Alematic Artisan Ales (Huber Heights, OH) — Love Rollercoaster – Milkshake IPA – 7.8% ABV
Every velvety sip of this hopjuice is a rollercoaster of flavor! Citra and El Dorado Hops form a backbone of pineapple and tangerine, while additions of peaches, strawberries, vanilla, and milk sugar thicken the brew up to dessert-y milkshake proportions.
