Gouden Carolus Indulgence 2019 – Mbingu Gold
Gouden Carolus Indulgence 2019 – Mbingu Gold is a Belgian beer, it has an alcohol content of 9%.
Gouden Carolus Indulgence [Indulgence, noun, \in-’dәl-jәn(t)s\ something that is done or enjoyed as a special pleasure] is a limited series of beers brewed every year with varying content. These ‘Indulgence’ brews are exclusive delights to be savoured at special moments or shared with special people.
Mbingu Gold is the fifth taste expression released under this label. For this version, Het Anker Brewery took on the challenge to brew a beer enriched with whole cocoa beans. This is an extremely difficult task for a brewer in technical terms, because cocoa beans naturally contain a lot of oils and fats, which cause the head to collapse quickly. To pay tribute to the delicious cocoa beans, the brewers had to seek the right balance so as to brew a beer that holds up well. They opted for a blond beer that allows scope for the complex taste of the Criollo cocoa beans from the Tanzanian village of Mbingu (Swahili for ‘heaven’). These beans were lightly roasted by cocoa roaster Mario Vandeneede (Chocolatoa), especially for this golden beer. The result is a mellow, creamy beer with a fruity first taste and subtle yet complex hints of pure chocolate and roasted nuts in the finish. Pure joy for enthusiasts!
