Vander Linden

Brasserie Vander Linden was founded in 1893, and operated by three generations of the Vander Linden family until closing in 2001. Brothers Jos and Omer Vander Linden were the last owners, and couldn’t find a buyer for the brewery.

Demolition

The former brewery Vander Linden in the Saint-Roch district at the corner of the Brouwerijstraat and Bieze Meadow State is already vacant since 2001, when the brothers Jos and Omer Vander Linden sold the building because they were retired. A buyer for the brewery was not ertoen. Several years carnival groups used the location as a hangar to build their car.

Project developer Guy Schoukens from Bogaarden, the new owners of the buildings, all this will degrade and 23 apartments put the city with underground parking. With the demolition of the brewery also goes some history of Halle. Here the devil Halle beer was brewed for years by Jos and Omer Vander Linden. This recipe has since been transferred to honorary brewer Frank Boon from Lembeek. Devils Beer (see below) is especially around Carnival time very popular, but also like poured into the cafes.
