The Brussels Beer Challenge 2019

The Brussels Beer Challenge, international ambassador of beer culture, organized its eighth edition, from 1 to 3 November, at Mons’ brand new congress center, the MICX (Mons International Congress eXperience ). During this competition, 1650 beers from 35 different countries were tasted for three days by ninety international judges. Belgian brewers presented their best beers there and faced the world of brewery production. The results were communicated on Monday 18 November afternoon at the Horeca Expo in Ghent. Belgian beers have amassed 76 awards, including two for the Brasserie de Silly. The United States comes in 2nd place with 46 awards. Italy came third with 24 awards, ahead of the Netherlands (21) and China (18). As a family brewery, we are very proud to have obtained these distinctions in the face of so many national and international competitors, including giants. This encourages us to continue our quality efforts at all levels: brewing, packaging, delivery, customer service.

La Silly Saison

La Silly Saison is a fermentation beer high, season type. It is an amber beer with an alcohol content of 5% by volume. It is a light beer and pleasant to drink. It contains aromatic malt, Kent and Hallertau hops. The Silly Saison is both fruity and slightly sweet with a fresh aftertaste. It offers a pleasant feeling of freshness. It is available in 33 cl and 75 cl bottles as well as in 20 liter barrels. La Silly Saison won the gold medal in the Pale & Amber Ale category: amber guard beers.

La SILLY Scotch Pinot Noir Barrel Aged

La Silly Scotch est a high fermentation brown beer, Scotch type, which contains 8% alcohol by volume. Her dress, a beautiful coppery red, is matched with a beige foam. Its complex nose is reminiscent of brioche with raisins, candied fruit and fresh raspberry. Generous and full on the palate, almost sweet, it evokes honey and caramel before ending with notes of prune and roasted malt. Each year, the Brasserie de Silly ages its Scotch in barrels of different styles. The previous editions were aged in oak barrels from Bordeaux, Porto, Cognac, Whiskey, Chardonnay, Nuits Saint Georges,… This year, aging in Pinot Noir barrels, typical of Burgundy wines, gave Silly Scotch a flavor subtle and unique. Silly Scotch Pinot Noir Barrel Aged is available in a 75 cl bottle. She won the silver medal in the Flavored Beer: Wood / Barrel Aged higher than 10 ABV category.
