February 21, 2019 This dark, strong and richly malty German-style lager will warm and satisfy on a cold winter’s day
Beau’s Brewing Co. is releasing the fourth of five brand-new beers for feBREWary, its annual mid-winter craft beer celebration. The beer is Grumpiest of All Time, a certified organic 7 % urbock: a dark, strong and richly malty German-style lager to warm and satisfy on a cold winter’s day. Grumpiest of All Time will be served on tap and sold by the bottle this week at the 300+ restaurants, pubs and retailers participating in FeBREWary 2019.
Bock is traditionally a malty and lightly hopped beer. The style originated in the 14th century in the Saxon town of Einbeck (Germany). It was later adopted by Munich brewers in the 17th century, where the regional Bavarian accent meant citizens pronounced “Einbeck” as “ein Bock” (a billy goat), and the style formally became known as Bock. To pay homage to these origins, a goat is often used on Bock labels (this one included!)
Grumpiest of All Time is brewed authentic to style, with all-German organic malts and organic perle hops from Austria. It pours deep brown with garnet highlights and a beige foam. The aroma offers bready dark malt and caramel notes with dark fruit nuances. The rich malt flavour is full and round, and the finish long and satisfying. Beau’s Brewmaster Matthew O’Hara suggests sipping this beer alongside hearty dishes such as Rouladen or pork chops and mushroom sauce, or bread pudding with raisins.
This beer is available this week in Ontario, Québec and Manitoba at Beau’s 300+ feBREWary partners – to see a full list, visit beaus.ca/feBREWary. It is also available by the bottle beginning Feb. 21 at the Beau’s brewery in Vankleek Hill, while quantities last. Beau’s month-long feBREWary celebrations will wrap up next week with the release of Paper Chase, an ale brewed with locally foraged birch bark and aged on roasted Canadian birchwood.Share:
