This month, for our Catering Spotlight, we’re talking to Eatertainment Events & Catering about this year’s upcoming trends and a few things they recommend when you consider planning your next party with them.

Creative Director, Sebastien Centner, opened Eatertainment Events & Catering in 2001. He understood that every aspect of an event contributes to guests being blown away, from the creative concept and décor, to menu design, catering and so much more.

Their approach to catering is to constantly push the boundaries of what guests expect with food, presented in innovative and striking ways but grounded with exceptional cuisine. Eatertainment Events & Catering believe that great menus are a feast to all the senses and making that Instagram worthy station or dish is just as important as the spectacular flavour that follows.

What are some must have canapé items you’d recommend to your clients?:

Some of our favourites are our French onion crostini with fig jam & Ontario gouda – the perfect option for vegetarians. We also find that our savoury cones like our classic beef tartare and lobster and chervil are extremely popular. Both of these canapés are easy to handle, making them perfect and unique items for cocktail hour.

Do you offer any small plate options right now?:

We love offering small plate options for our clients. Some of our favourite dishes right now include; our seared halibut escabeche with black bean puree, roasted pepper and corn sauces, cotija cheese, microgreens & tostada crumble, as well as Korean barbecue chicken tacos with carrot, pepper, daikon and nappa lime slaw, gochujang aioli with cucumber kimchi salad. And of course our blackened beef tenderloin with chimichurri, smashed blue potatoes & roasted vegetable ratatouille. Not only are these delicious small plate options, they are ideal dishes for those with a gluten-free diet.

What type of innovative stations have you created for your clients?:

Our Enchanted Forest Dessert Station is always a show-stopper. We always find people walking by to explore the design and set up of the display. Before taking a tasty treat, people are always snapping photos for their Instagram!

We also set up a heavenly Raw Bar that’s filled with freshly shucked oysters, ceviche, shrimp and rich caviar. Foodies and seafood lovers alike all really appreciate this food station because it’s light and something you can walk up to multiple times without feeling guilty.
