Toronto is a city full of talented chefs creating delicious food. Over the next few months we’ll be highlighting some of our favourite Toronto-based caterers that have provided party goers in our event spaces with delicious and eye-catching eats.

This month, we’re talking to The Food Dudes about this year’s upcoming trends and a few things they recommend when you consider planning your next party with them.

Since joining forces, a decade ago, The Food Dudes have grown their once small, home-based operation into Toronto’s most revered, innovative and adaptive catering and food service company.

Executive Chef Adrian Niman founded The Food Dudes in 2007 upon completing his intense training at the Michelin-starred Reads Hotel in Mallorca, Spain. Adrian then partnered with Creative Director Brent McClenahan, who specializes in bridging the gap between design strategy and the culinary arts. They added Chief Operating Officer Lindsay Klein soon after, built a world-class team of passionate professionals, and quickly distinguished themselves as industry leaders.

The Food Dudes consistently raise the bar by anticipating and fulfilling the dynamic needs of the modern metropolitan client – a desire for fresh and local ingredients, sophisticated original fare, flexible budgeting plans – all while providing a memorable culinary experience.

From catered affairs of all styles and sizes to food trucks, restaurants, fundraisers and signature food-driven event experiences, The Food Dudes are Toronto’s most trusted hospitality specialists and premier providers of all things edible.

We love doing something different with our dessert stations!

We’re famous for our liquid nitrogen ice cream stations where we take our pastry chefs unique homemade creams and freeze them into ice cream and make sandwiches for the guests. We do Nitro with popcorn and for Sorbet as well.

Cocktail Oyster bars are also a huge hit and are something a little different that people really enjoy – something stationary for the cocktail hour that isn’t always seen at traditional weddings.

Food Station weddings are a fun trend Food Dudes is well versed in. Cocktail style weddings or mini meal receptions are also a trendy and more upscale casual vibe for clients.

What does Food Dudes offer for those who have particular diets?:

75% of the Food Dudes menu is already gluten free – often just removing the dairy garnish on items they can become vegan. We do have vegan and lighter fair options on our menu to make sure we can accommodate anyone.

Our head chef also does fully customized menus for clients as well. We have done all Vegan menus for events and weddings as well as cultural menus with a Food Dudes twist.

Why do you like working with Steam Whistle?

The Food Dudes food pairs well with Steam Whistle beer. Smokey and spicy sauces, braised meats, a variety of chicken and shrimp are all items that pair well with Steam Whistle Pilsner.

We try and offer our packages sold to clients with customized menus to fit the look and feel of the brewery and events we help host there.
