Fight Fire With Beer – 416 Fire Relief at OBB Taprooms

Fight Fire With Beer – 416 Fire Relief at OBB Taprooms

The 416 Fire has been burning in our home state of Colorado (13 miles North of Durango) since June 1. As of today, the fire’s eaten up 34,177 acres and is 35% contained.* In response, our friends at Ska Brewing in Durango are making a huge fundraising effort to benefit 416 fire relief through the Community Emergency Relief Fund; and we wanna help out.

Many Durango-area visitor attractions including the San Juan National Forest are currently closed, which is potentially damaging to local businesses. In a very rad move, Ska has donated beer to almost every beer-serving establishment in Durango and Silverton to support Beer Tourism during this time. “We want drinking Ska beer to be one more way you can support this cause, so we made it available absolutely everywhere in town,” said Ska Brewing Founder Dave Thibodeau in a recent press release. “Beer itself won’t put this fire out, but damnit I’d hook up the world’s longest hose to one of our tanks if it did.”

Ska has asked other breweries to get involved, and we said, “hell yes.” We’ll donate $1 from every Oskar Blues pint sold in our Boulder and Longmont Taprooms to the Community Emergency Relief Fund (CERF), effective now through June 23. We’ll also recognize June 23 as Save the San Juans Saturday, meaning all proceeds from sales of our CANundrum Mixed Packs at the Boulder and Longmont Taprooms will be donated to CERF as well.

“Oskar Blues and SKA are cut from the same unconventional ColoRADo cloth and have built our breweries in places we love to play in the outdoors. Hell, you can’t spell oSKAr without SKA. We’re proud to help lead the charge in helping their community respond to the 416 fire with a week of fundraising at our taprooms,” says Chad Melis, Marketing Director for Oskar Blues Brewery.

Get thirsty and come out to the Boulder or Longmont Taprooms and help us Fight Fire with Beer!
