Here at the brewery, we have a fantastic team of hardworking individuals who we like to call, Good Beer Folks. Our GBF work around the clock to ensure our delicious beer gets to your local retailer, your fridge and of course, your favourite pubs and restaurants. Just like you would imagine, our GBF work hard and play even harder. Learn more about rock star employee, Samantha, Event Coordinator, and all the interesting things she has to share about her role here at Steam Whistle.

How long have you been a part of the Steam Whistle/GBF family?

A year and 4 months

What is your position at Steam Whistle?

Event Coordinator

Can you describe your role?

Planning for all wedding, social and corporate events at the Roundhouse.

What’s one of your favourite milestones at Steam Whistle that you’ve been a part of?

The annual canoe trip in Killarney. The year I went is immortalized in our 2021 Steamy Men of Steam Whistle calendar thanks to Beau and Sweets’ canoe ride!

Is there a piece of Steam Whistle history that makes you extremely proud to work here? (whether you were around or not when it happened)

The Art Show featured in our Taproom Gallery. I’m so proud that we support the art community and get to see so many talented artists featured in this historic space. To then be able to walk the halls and see pieces from each of those shows on display, makes the Roundhouse the space it is – eclectic and beautiful.

If you had to choose, what would be your favourite aspect of working at Steam Whistle?

The people – the GBF family is filled with remarkable and talented individuals that I’m grateful to be able to have a beer with at the end of the day.

What is a Steam Whistle initiative that means a lot to you?

The green-sustainable initiative! It is my hope to expand this further within the events side of the brewery to make us even greener and more self-sufficient.

Is it true when people say the Steam Whistle culture is contagious?

100% – I think we’ve all drank the Pilsner kool-aid! It’s such a great culture of people, past and present, with the ability to meld through the stories we have from working here. I feel like I have lived all of these parties and events just from the storytellers that work(ed) here.

Where is your favourite place to enjoy a Steam Whistle?

On my dock at the cottage of course!

What is one word you would use to describe your work experience with Steam Whistle?

Energetic
