GREAT THINGS START IN THE GARAGE

Great Things Start in the Garage

Named after the suburban street it is located on, Evergreen Craft Ales is currently Ottawa’s tiniest brewery. Inventively built inside the 200-square foot garage of brewer Chris Samuel in Bells Corners, the brewery has built a neighbourhood following and is gaining momentum across Ottawa.

Chris, a software developer by trade, found himself turning to the creative process
of brewing great tasting beer in his garage on Evergreen Drive. His passion for the craft of brewing grew until he found himself with a garage packed with brewing equipment, 60 styles of beer brewed and nowhere to stow the snow blower. Evergreen Craft Ales, Ontario’s smallest brewery, was born.

Because the beer is only available at the brewery, Samuel is able to discuss beer with all his customers, which he sees as a great advantage. “Local beer and local food benefit from freshness and transparency,” says Samuel. “Freshness is obvious because you are buying the product from the source — just like buying produce directly from the farmer. Transparency means when you buy it at or close to the source, you get to meet the people that make the products you consume.”

Producing approximately five batches of beer monthly, it is the little brewery that could!
Stay tuned for exciting news about this neighbourhood nano-brewery.
