Halcyon Barrel House expands distribution of Echo Chamber, an organic dry-hopped sour

December 13, 2018 Halcyon Barrel House has bottled Echo Chamber, its organic dry-hopped sour, for wider distribution in Ontario and Québec. Slightly tart and refreshingly sour, Echo Chamber is aged in red wine barrels for 3-6 months, then blended and dry-hopped with Idaho 7 and Cryo Ekeunot varieties. Previously available on draft and from the brewery only, the approachable 4.8 % sour will now be available in 500 ml bottles at retailers in Ontario and Québec.

Echo Chamber pours a hazy straw gold with a bit of foam. The aroma moves into citrus with faint grassy hay notes in the background. The beer is very tart to begin then gradually softens to balanced acidity. Fruity tang throughout adds to the refreshing nature of the beer. Echo Chamber finishes dry with a little bit of barrel tannin rounding out the finish.

This is the first widely available bottle release from Halcyon Barrel House and Brewmaster Bryce McBain since being named 4th Best New Brewery in the World by RateBeer.com in January 2018, and winning Platinum at Mondial de la Bière this past summer for its Flanders Red-style beer, Gravity Well.
