International Beer Challenge London

The Van Steenberge Brewery from Ertvelde continues to score big wins at international beer competitions. As a matter of fact, Gulden Draak brought home a gold medal and Piraat a bronze from the International Beer Challenge in London.

The International Beer Challenge is one of the most renowned beer competitions in the world, and each year breweries everywhere anxiously anticipate the results. The Van Steenberge showpiece, Gulden Draak, won a gold medal in the World-style Barley Wines category, while Piraat won bronze in the Tripel category. Jef Versele, Business Manager of the brewery is naturally a very happy man: ‘The beer competitions act as a global parameter for the quality of our beers. We are proud that as a small, family-owned brewery, we can compete at world-class level.’

Earlier this year, the brewery won 4 medals at the New York Beer Competition and the Canadian Beer Awards. This confirms the brewery’s reputation as an international quality brewer. Jef Versele: ‘That these of all brands continue to score prizes gives me enormous pleasure, and it shows that we made the right choice by drawing the Gulden Draak and Piraat cards. We have captured 6 prizes already this year, but I hope we can keep on adding to our trophy case.’
