Got an extra calendar day so taking advantage by looking back at the past few months, and forward to what’s ahead…
It has been just over three months since we opened our brewery’s doors. Our beer list has steadily grown, each of which allow for the traditional beer ingredients to stand out on their own, meanwhile providing a full range of flavor profiles. And, we’ve begun to get on tap at your favorite restaurants and watering holes – so make sure to keep a look out for us on tap around town!
Outside of making great beer, we wanted to take advantage of our great tap room space pairing delicious craft beers with fantastic local musicians. Alt/pop rocker Derek Evry helped us kick off the new year and the release of our IPA v. 1 El D (El Dorado hops) – the first version of our rotating IPA. Skribe came with his garage folk tracks and raw soulful vibe which killed it in the taproom, as the second artist featured in our bimonthly local artist showcase.
In February, we were excited to open DC101’s FeBREWary month-long promo highlighting the DMV’s craft beer scene by playing host to Roche and the DC101 crew for a live broadcast. Musical prodigy TheyCallMePiano provided a change of pace with some synthed pop songs as she rocked the keyboard. And, we were thrilled to have DC’s own Justin Trawick keep people dancing with his upbeat engaging performance, as we released our IPA v.2 Leap Year (Equinox hops). We’ve had amazing feedback to our music events and look to have the 7 Locks tap room be a place to spotlight live local music in Montgomery County.
Be sure to check out our events calendar to see what’s upcoming in March, from more live music (Swampcandy, ILYAimy), Tap Takeovers (Urban Winery), and other events. We continue to cultivate new ideas for increased community participation in creative projects which bring together the community, and are all ears to your ideas so feel free to let us know your thoughts.
In addition to our IPA series, we’ve released our Snakeden Saison and Farmhouse Strong Ale. Otherwise, we have focused primarily on perfecting our Surrender Dorothy RyePA, Blockhouse Point Oatmeal Stout, and Owen’s Ordinary Pale Ale. Our barrel-aging has begun, with some spring releases in the works – stay tuned for the Irish Red on Nitro, and an American Brown Ale!
While in the moment, it seems that things move in slow motion. Writing things down however brings things into perspective for what we have done and where we are going. This year has gotten off to a great start, and we look to keep up the momentum. We’d like to thank our local restaurant partners who have stepped up to the plate to carry a high quality local beer. Also, we’ve coordinated with several food trucks, and want to single out Fat Frankie’s Pizza and JavaCruiserMOCO for their support through these cold months!
Of course, we also want to thank our customers – both new and frequent – for supporting local craft beer!Share:
