Meet the Artist: Paula Flynn

Paula Flynn is a local Newburyport resident and a long-time brewery regular with her husband, Kevin. They’re big fans of our Melt Away IPA and Paula even has her own bar stool! She brings her incredible collection of photographs to our walls this month and we sat down with her to learn a little more about her and her work. Her photographs will be up for the month of April and she’ll be here this Saturday from 5-8pm for Meet the Artist Night!

Learn more about Paula in our quick interview with her below:

When did you first start taking photos?

I first started taking photos in high school. I had a photography class and loved it.

What is your favorite subject to photograph?

Favorite subject? That’s hard to answer. I love finding shapes, color, patterns, and light in everyday items. But, landscapes and nature are always on my list.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My Mom. She paints and draws everyday. She inspires me to keep at it.

Favorite photographers?

The short list: Ansel Adams, Mary Ellen Mark, and Stephen Shore.

How long have you been showing your work?

This is my third show. I had my first show at The Parker River Refuge Visitor Center on the turnpike out to Plum Island. My second show was here at the NBPT Brew Co! I’m so grateful for their continued support of local artists.

Favorite piece in the show?

It’s a tie between Turnips and Baskets.

Don’t miss Meet the Artist Night with Paula Flynn this Saturday, 4/14/18, from 5-8pm. Live music by Brian Dolzani from West Hartford, CT!
