Soaring energy and commodity prices

News from the Brasserie de Silly Back to News Soaring energy and raw material prices Another hard blow for our sector.

After 2 years of Covid and with the approach of the high season, the war in Ukraine and sanctions trigger a sharp rise in the prices of raw materials and energy.

We are concerned about inflation in the prices of glass, paper, cardboard and the cost of energy. We are seeing a never-before-seen increase in grain prices. Regarding energy, the 400 solar panels installed on the roofs of the Brewery produce 100 MWh of electricity annually, which covers 25% of our consumption. But this is totally insufficient to offset the explosion in energy prices.

But we are looking to the future. And despite this difficult context, we decided to continue our investments.

In March, we replaced our fermentation tanks. The 6 old vats dated back to the 1970s. The new ones will provide better quality, but also greater productivity.

And finally, we were delighted with some good news. Brasserie de Silly won two medals last March at the Lyon International Wine, Beer and Spirits Competition: a Gold Medal for Silly Triple Bio, and a Silver Medal for Silly Kriek.

So let’s quote the Buddha:
“Accept what is, let go of what was, have faith in what will be”
